Dear Stork - Friends,

I have set up this petition when the Austrian armed forces in Zeltweg, Styria,  in the summer of 2010 wanted to 'remove' our two white storks Hansi and Lisa. Either capturing, cutting off pinions, locking away for several years or shooting both birds was considered. 
In October 2011 the armed forces wanted to achieve that the municipality in Zeltweg should issue a feeding ban for me for the winter, which would imply that both storks Hansi and Lisa would have to starve. 

I am very grateful that the major of Zeltweg did not agree to this feeding ban, especially since I have already explained to Hofrat Frank from the department of environmental protection of Styria that in any case I will not accept the feeding ban of  our two storks. 

It is written in the Austrian animal protection law that no one is allowed to deliberately starve animals to death. It would be a shame for Austria if they simply watched our protected white storks dying. Hofrat Frank told me in a personal phone call that no white stork will ever be shot in Aichfeld, Styria, and that Hansi and Lisa - they have been breeding in Zeltweg since 2008 - can continue to live undisturbed in Zeltweg and that I can of course continue to feed them  during the winter.
However,  according to my experience, a certain mistrust is advisable, and I will continue to observe the activities of the armed forces and of their 'stork expert'. 

Dear Stork-Friends, as long as the army in Zeltweg employs people who want to 'remove' our white storks Hansi and Lisa, it is necessary to keep this petition alive.
